The invention provides a force bearing device which is used for replacing a cross arm insulator installed on a power transmission tower, the force bearing device comprises an adjusting piece, a force bearing piece and a connecting piece which are connected in sequence, one end of the adjusting piece is used for being fixedly connected with a tower body of the power transmission tower, the other end of the adjusting piece is fixedly connected with one end of the force bearing piece, and the other end of the force bearing piece is fixedly connected with the connecting piece. The adjusting piece is used for adjusting the length of the force bearing device. The bearing device is simple in structure and convenient to operate, insulators of different specifications can be dismounted and replaced by selecting bearing parts of different models, and the bearing device is wide in applicability. The invention further provides a power transmission tower operation and maintenance method.
