The method comprises the following steps that the height H of an existing structure is obtained; when H is smaller than or equal to 3 m, sloping unloading is conducted on covering soil on the existing structure, a foundation pit enclosure structure is constructed, grouting reinforcement is conducted on a soil body on the excavation side of the foundation pit, isolation piles are constructed on the excavation side of the existing structure, the foundation pit is excavated, a newly-built structure is constructed after excavation is completed, and connection construction of the newly-built structure and the existing structure is completed; when H is greater than 3m, constructing an enclosure structure of the foundation pit to be excavated, grouting and reinforcing a soil body on one side, far away from the existing structure, of the foundation pit, constructing an isolation pile on one side, far away from the newly-built structure, of the existing structure, excavating the foundation pit, and grouting and jacking a soil body below the existing structure after excavation is completed; according to the construction method disclosed by the invention, the problem of lateral extension construction of the existing structure under different conditions can be solved according to local conditions.
