The method comprises the following steps: receiving an opening reservation instruction of a vehicle tail door sent by a client; determining a failure moment when the reservation instruction is started; judging whether the current moment reaches a failure moment or not, if not, acquiring an environment image within a preset first distance range, and performing face recognition based on the environment image; under the condition that the face recognition is passed, obstacle detection is carried out in a preset second distance range through the sensor, and the second distance range is smaller than the first distance range; under the condition that the obstacle is detected, a vehicle tail door is opened; and returning to the step of judging whether the current moment reaches the failure moment or not under the condition that the face recognition is not passed or no obstacle is detected. By adopting the method, the user operation difficulty can be reduced when the vehicle tail door is opened, and meanwhile, the tail door opening requirement of the user is accurately recognized.
