The invention provides a cerium oxide/yttrium oxide composite stabilized zirconium oxide grinding medium and a preparation method thereof, and the method comprises the following steps: 1, mixing zirconium oxide, cerium oxide, yttrium oxide and kaolin, adding a proper amount of a dispersant and water, and grinding to obtain slurry; 2, carrying out centrifugal spray drying on the slurry to obtain cerium oxide/yttrium oxide composite stable zirconium oxide powder; step 3, adding a binder into the cerium oxide/yttrium oxide composite stabilized zirconia powder, and carrying out rolling forming to prepare a spherical grinding medium green body; and 4, sintering and polishing the spherical grinding medium green body to obtain the cerium oxide/yttrium oxide composite stable zirconium oxide grinding medium. According to the method, low particle size and high specific surface are obtained through high-temperature ball milling, and the stabilizer is promoted to be dissolved in zirconium oxide crystal lattices through heat treatment, so that the sintering activity is improved, the sintering temperature is reduced, and the production cost is reduced.
