The controller identifies a loading target for loading the cargo within the bucket based on the detection of the object. When the work machine is brought close to the loading target by the forward travel of the traveling body, the controller starts driving of a work machine actuator that operates the bucket in the discharge direction while continuing the forward travel of the traveling body at a timing when the feature point of the bucket reaches a first target position that is ahead of the loading target and higher than the loading target.
