The invention relates to the technical field of building structure construction, and particularly discloses a construction method of a counterweight-free suspension type hanging basket, which comprises the following steps of: forming a vertical hole in a floor slab of a building; a suspension mechanism is placed on the floor, and the suspension mechanism is located over the vertical hole; a steel wire rope is mounted on the suspension mechanism; an overhanging platform is placed below the floor slab; the end, away from the suspension mechanism, of the steel wire rope penetrates through the vertical hole and then is connected with an elevator of the cantilever platform; and after the cantilever platform is used, the steel wire ropes are disconnected from the hoister, and the vertical holes are filled with concrete after the steel wire ropes are pulled out of the vertical holes. The cantilever platform has the effect that construction of the cantilever platform is more convenient.
