The invention relates to the technical field of steel structure installation in building construction, and provides a limited space steel structure installation method which comprises the steps that S1, an operation platform is erected at the unlimited end of a construction space, and a steel beam positioning line is arranged on the operation platform; s2, a concrete structural beam is constructed, and a sliding rail is installed on the concrete structural beam; s3, the steel beams are preliminarily assembled on the operation platform along the steel beam positioning lines, multiple steel beams are assembled as a group, and steel beam units are obtained; a turnover type rotating clamp is installed outside the steel beam unit; a sliding carrier is used for carrying the steel beam unit, and the steel beam unit is transported to a designated position on the sliding rail from the operation platform; s4, after the steel beam unit slides to the designated position, the steel beam unit is lifted, the turnover type rotating clamp is detached, and the steel beam unit is installed in place according to the design requirement; and S5, the steps S3 to S4 are repeated, and sliding installation of the next steel beam unit is conducted. The construction efficiency in the limited space can be improved, and the construction cost is reduced.
