The invention discloses an ardealite-based road base material and a preparation method thereof, and the material comprises the following raw materials by mass: 84-92% of ardealite, 4-8% of magnesium oxide, 1-3% of magnesium chloride, 1-2% of mineral powder, 0.5-1% of cement, 0.25-0.5% of gypsum, 0.25-0.5% of sodium bicarbonate, 0.25-0.5% of a polymer nanocomposite and 0.25-0.5% of a modifier. Wherein the modifier comprises ferrous sulfate and graphene oxide; the polymer nano composite material comprises nano silicon dioxide and an acrylic emulsion. Through the combined effect of the polymer nano composite material and the modifier, based on a series of principles of improving the surface performance of phosphogypsum particles, optimizing the form and aggregation position of the five-phase product, forming a composite water-resisting layer and the like, the cementing efficiency of the five-phase product is improved, and the technical problems of low strength and poor water stability of phosphogypsum are fundamentally solved.
