The invention discloses a mountain forest water collecting and fire extinguishing system which comprises a main water conveying pipe, a water storage tank set and fire hydrants. The water storage tank sets are communicated through the main water conveying pipe, and the fire hydrants are connected with the main water conveying pipe. The water storage tank set is composed of a plurality of water storage tanks communicated through water pipes, a water collection iron shed covers the water storage tank set, and a water collection groove communicated with the water storage tanks is formed in the eave of the iron shed. According to the system, fire extinguishing facilities are preset, water taking is convenient, the fire extinguishing response is fast, water potential energy generated by altitude fall has huge water pressure, the spraying distance is long, stored water of all water storage units higher than a fire extinguishing operation point is collected to the fire extinguishing operation point through the siphon principle, and other power is not needed.
