The invention relates to a device for making a cylindrical container with a large diameter by a metal plate strip which is winded on an uncoiling machine and is then bended in a spiral shape. The device comprises a forming device which can be set up on ground, a rotating driving device which can be set up on ground, a welding device which is directly arranged on the rear of the rotating driving device or on the rotating driving device and is used to weld an upper edge region and an adjacent lower edge region of a related lower metal plate strip and an upper metal plate strip, and an annular installing frame which can be set up on ground, an annular installing frame which can be set up on ground, and a mechanism used to adjust height positions of upper metal plate strips transmitted to the driving device and the welding device relative to height positions of the lower metal plate strips which extend below the upper metal plate strips and are transmitted by the upper edge region, the mechanism being in the region of the rotating driving device and/or the welding device and being used to weld the lower edge regions of the lower metal plate strip and the upper metal plate strip, so the edge regions are arranged in overlap joint from interval.
