A sandwich panel (100), comprising a first planar metal layer (102); a second planar metal layer (104) orientated substantially parallel to the first planar metal layer (102); a non-metal layer (106) sandwiched (106) between the first planar metal layer (102) and the second planar metal layer (104); and a plurality of openings (108) extending through the non-metal layer (106) in a longitudinal direction substantially parallel to the plane of the first and second planar metal layers (102, 104), wherein the plurality of openings (108) are surrounded on all lateral sides by the non-metal layer (106).
