FIRED DIATOMITE INSULATING BODIES
The present application discloses fired diatomite insulating bodies, typically based on diatomite and a binder, e.g. clay or the like, and possibly one or more fillers. The insulating bodies have improved properties with respect to mechanical and dimensional stability and low thermal conductivity at high temperature compared to conventional diatomite insulating bodies. The effects are obtained by reaction of the basic materials with a metals-masking agent, e.g. aluminium dihydrogen phosphate or mono ammonium phosphate.
