A door assembly 100 for a vehicle. The door assembly 100 includes a door frame 110, a door panel 120, a strut 130, and a linear door guide 140. The door 120 opens and closes through a combination of rotating and sliding motion, which minimizes the required operational footprint. The strut 130 is mounted on the door panel 120 such that the strut 130 is hidden from view when the door 120 is in an open position. The door assembly is applicable as a cockpit door in an aircraft 200.
