In locking a lock lever of a pannier box with a key cylinder, a key is incapable of being removed unless the lock lever is in a proper lock position.A lock mechanism 50 for a pannier box 17 includes a lock lever 51 including a key cylinder 52, a lock plate 53 provided with a first lock hole 57 configured to engage with a cam 75 of the key cylinder 52, an engagement lever 61 removably engages with a pannier stay 30, and a lock hook 77 configured to engage with a lock part 65 of the engagement lever 61 engaging with the pannier stay 30. The lock plate 53 is partially provided with an extension 78. In an unlock position of the lock plate 53 where the lock hook 77 does not engage with the lock part 65, the cam 75 of the key cylinder 52 abuts on the extension 78 to prevent further rotation of the cam 75, which makes a key 74 incapable of rotating to reach the lock position on the key cylinder 52 and hence incapable of being removed.
