The invention relates to a method for producing an oxide ceramic fiber composite material and to an oxide ceramic fiber composite material produced using the method according to the invention. The method has the steps of: a) providing a material made of continuous oxide ceramic fibers, the continuous oxide ceramic fibers consisting of a composition comprising: - 62 - 100 wt.% of aluminum oxide and - 0 - 28 wt.% of silicon dioxide, b) infiltrating the material with a slip comprising a sinterable powder material, wherein the powder material has a grain size distribution D100 ≤ 10 μm, said powder material consisting of a composition comprising: - 70 - 95 wt.% of aluminum oxide and - 5 - 30 wt.% of silicon dioxide, c) drying the infiltrated materials such that a sinterable green body is obtained, and d) sintering the sinterable green body at a temperature ranging from 1100 to 1500 °C.
