The invention relates to a method for welding an architectural film along a weld seam, wherein the weld seam has a longitudinal orientation and wherein the architectural film comprises a first film body made of an ETFE and a second film body made of an ETFE, wherein the first film body and the second film body extend along a planar extent, and the first film body has a first weld zone at a first edge region and the second film body has a second weld zone at a second edge region and are welded together by jointly heating and then cooling the first weld zone and the second weld zone using a thermal welding device having a first welding tool with a first contact width oriented orthogonally to the longitudinal orientation and a second welding tool with a second contact width oriented orthogonally to the longitudinal orientation, said method having several steps. The invention also relates to an architectural film comprising a first film body, a second film body, and a weld seam.
