The invention relates to a control method (1) for controlling a motorised rear panel assembly, the control method (1) comprising a first step of determining a numerical model corresponding to the set of positions adopted by the rear panel during the opening or closing thereof, which model is referred to as the calibrated displacement model. The calibrated displacement model is established according to the inclination and/or position of the motor vehicle, which makes it possible to better take into account the presence of obstacles located close to the motor vehicle in order to prevent collisions.
