L'invention concerne un maillon (100) pour une chaîne (8) d’excavation destinée à circuler sur un chemin de circulation présentant une portion d’excavation (5) pour un dispositif d’excavation (4) de ballast au-dessous d’une voie ferrée (2), le maillon (100) comportant un corps (101) s’étendant longitudinalement entre une extrémité avant (110) et une extrémité arrière (120) et est traversé par au moins un trou traversant avant (111) et un trou traversant arrière (121) configurés pour recevoir des moyens d’articulation avec un maillon adjacent de la chaîne (8), les trous traversants avant (111) et arrière (121) s’étendant suivant des axes parallèles entre eux et contenus dans un plan de référence (P) du corps (101), le maillon (100) étant caractérisé en ce que le corps (101) présente d’un côté intérieur (100B) du corps (101) par rapport au plan de référence (P), opposé au côté extérieur (100A), une surface de guidage (150) concave s’étendant sur une enveloppe (155) présentant une génératrice d’axe (G) parallèle aux axes des articulations (A1, A2) du maillon, la surface de guidage (150) étant configurée pour épouser au moins localement une courbure (C) d’un organe de renvoi (40) du dispositif d’excavation (4). A link for an excavating chain for a ballast excavating device below a railroad track, the link comprising a body extending longitudinally between a front end and a rear end and being crossed by at least one front through-hole and a rear through-hole configured to receive hinge means with an adjacent link of the chain, the front and rear through-holes extending along axes parallel to each other and contained in a reference plane of the body, the link further comprising, on an inner side of the body with respect to the reference plane opposite to the outer side, a concave guide surface extending over an envelope having an axis generator parallel to the axes of the link joints, the guide surface being configured to at least locally match a curvature of a return member of the excavating device.
