A housing 10, 100 for a motor comprises a mounting chamber 150 for mounting an electric motor, a first outlet permitting water entering into the chamber to pass to a drainage chamber 160, 170, which discharges water through a second outlet. The motor housing may be used with an electrically motor driven gate (2, fig.1), the motor housing buried underground; the drainage chamber may be trough shaped with a channel at the bottom connected to a pipe discharging water to a soak-away (20, fig.1). A removable drainage plate may be provided in the motor housing. A filter may also be included.
