A pure earth anchor blade is fitted with one or more facing plates. The facing plate may be removable or sacrificial and may be provided on front and/or upper faces of the blade. The plate may be screwed onto the blade using fixings. The blade may be formed from steel and the facing plate may be form from plastic such as ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE). The blade may include a replaceable cutting edge which may include a plurality of teeth. The earth anchor may be used solely for holding a vehicle static for winching operations and not for obstacle clearance or dozing operations.
