A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
The ventilated cavity barrier comprises a strip or sheet of intumescent material 16encased within a sheet of polyurethane cloth material 10, a plurality of ventilation holes 18 extending through the intumescent and polyurethane materials, and two layers of flexible metallic mesh 12, 14 in contact with each side of the encased intumescent sheet. The opposite sides of one mesh layer may be turned upwardly or downwardly, and the intumescent material may be graphite based. There may be multiple rows of ventilation holes, and the openings of one mesh layer may be less than those of the other. There may be brackets to secure the barrier to the walls of the cavity.
