Improvements in ventilated fire barriers
The fire barrier, particularly for use in the cavities between external walls and cladding of tall buildings, comprises first 410 and second 412 intumescent layers and a first element 408 that at least partially penetrates both the first and second intumescent layers, with the first and second layers being arranged to move along the first element when undergoing expansion in response to a heat source. The first member is preferably elongate with a smooth surface, and may fully penetrate the first layer and penetrate the second layer to an extent that the second layer remains penetrated by they first element after expansion. The barrier may comprise a second element 409 that at least partially penetrates the first and second layers and which may be secured to the second layer. The barrier may comprise at least one additional intumescent layer 414 and a mineral fibre slab 402. Also claimed is a cavity comprising the ventilated fire barrier.
