A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
An adjustable anti-flood flip waste device comprises a tubular body fitted to a sink/bath. A connecting device comprises an outer ring 2 with two offset holes 9, and inner disc 1 comprising of one offset hole 3 and one threaded hole 5 secured together by a pin 7 that extends through the offset hole 3 in the disc 1 to the outer ring 2, rendering the disc 1 biased on one side. The disc 1 is prevented from dropping from a horizontal position to a vertical position by a magnetic field created between the ring 2 and the magnetic rod 8. The grub screw 4 is inserted into the disc 1 to control the strength of the magnetic field; when the weight of the water in the sink/bath exceeds a set level the magnetic field is broken and forces the disc 1 to swivel from the horizontal position to the vertical position allowing the water to drain away.
