An engagement indicator for a coupler comprising a moving element 202, attached to the coupler and which in a first position blocks aperture 128. When an attachment is aligned for mounting to the coupler, moving element 202 is moved to a second position, which allows hydraulic pin 138 to pass through apertures 126/128 and an aperture on the attachment (118, figure 2) to thereby couple the coupler to the attachment and to engage an indicator assembly 600. Indicator assembly comprises a plunger with two coloured sections (632/634, figure 6), which are visible through a window (626, figure 6) and indicate if the piston pin 138 is extended. A sensor or switch element may be included for providing a visible or audible alert regarding the engagement state of the coupler.
