A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Pump station monitoring method
The system comprises a reservoir, a level sensor, a pump and a pressure sensor for measuring the discharge pressure Pd of the pump. A power monitor measures the power consumed by the pump, whilst a volume monitor measures the volume of liquid pumped. A controller receives the power, volume, discharge pressure and level data and determines a discharge Hd and static head Hs of the pump. The controller processes the discharge and static heads to determine a total dynamic head TDH and uses this in conjunction with the volume and power data to determine a normalised pumping station efficiency nSPE. The nSPE is used by operators to determine if a pumping station is operating within acceptable parameters, independent of the working environment, allowing stations operating under different conditions to be compared. The nSPE may be based on data from two pumps within a station.
