Sliding door assembly having a door 2 supported by a sliding assembly, which may be a sliding carriage with rollers 24 within an upper track 25, relative to a frame 1 constructed to prevent ligature about the top edge of the door and prevent access to the sliding assembly for tamper or ligature purposes. The anti-ligature preferably includes a top edge overlap element 26 mounted on the door frame overlapping the top edge of the door; side overlap elements may also be provided. Preferably Shielding elements 40 in the track assembly close or cover the gap in the track and prevent access to the sliding assembly. The shield elements may be flexible resilient rubber flanges allowing passage of carriage post (27, fig.2). A displaceable shutter (60, figs. 6, 7) may be drawn across the track upon opening and closing of the door. The door preferably sides into a cavity or pocket.
