Construction panel and method for its manufacture
The panel 10c has a frame 12 with a backing sheet 14, together defining a recess 15; the panel is laid horizontally and an amount of insulating foam precursor liquid is added into the recess which sets to form a foam layer 16c. The foam precursor liquid may include a di- or poly- isocyanate component, a polyol component, water, and a catalyst, and form polyurethane foam when set. The frame may be made from hollow, rectangular, light-gauge steel, and the foam layer preferably sets before overflowing the top of the frame and at most cover 90% of the total area of the internal surfaces of the frame. The backing sheet is preferably made from a thermally insulating material. When manufacturing a batch of panels, they are stacked on top of one another, preferably before the foam precursor is set, in order to begin making the next panel.
