Welfare unit with electric water boiler
The welfare unit 1 comprises a self-contained cabin and a generator powered by a non-renewable energy source such as a fossil fuel or petrol. The generator powers an electric water boiler. A control device 1 includes a temperature sensor 2 which monitors the temperature of the water and automatically starts the generator when the temperature is less than a pre-determined value. The controller may turn off the generator after a certain amount of time or a certain higher temperature is reached. The unit may have an additional renewable electricity source, such as photovoltaic cells, which powers other internal components of the cabin. The unit may have a shared battery that takes energy from the generator and additional source or have batteries which exclusively take energy from the generator and the electricity source. Where there are two batteries, the electricity source battery power primarily powers the unit components until the charge drops below a certain level, in which case the generator battery is used to power the components.
