The invention relates to a process for treating sewage sludge comprising mixing (i) CaO or Ca(OH)2, and (ii) cement with the sewage sludge. Sewage sludge treated by the process of the invention can be stored in the form of a structurally stable stockpile prior to its use, for example, prior to its application to land as a fertiliser.
