A ground surface access frame and ground surface access assembly
A surface access frame 30 arranged above a ground opening, the frame being open at its upper and lower ends. The frame comprises a side wall 321 defining an open box section 32 having an upper open box end with cover mounting means 34,36. A bridge 42 extends out downwardly from the side wall and a flange 44 extends from the bridge and secures the frame above the opening. The flange may extend around the periphery of the frame except for a side opposite the bridge. The bridge may be spaced from the upper open box end and the bridge or flange may be reinforced to enhance load transfer by means of patterns 424,442, ribs, or the use of sloped edge sections 42e1. An assembly featuring a removable cover may be utilised to facilitate access is also claimed. The assembly may be installed on a road with a front edge closest to traffic and a rear facing a kerb. The cover may feature a grate.
