The multipoint lock assembly 10 comprises a facia 14 removably connected to a gearbox 12, providing a first backset when removably connected in a first orientation and a second, different, backset when connected in a second orientation. Optionally, the backset is determined by formations (e.g. castellations) on the facia and gearbox which abut in the first orientation but not the second. The removable connection may be provided by formations on the facia and gearbox, optionally engageable in a first or a second configuration in the first and the second orientation respectively. The facia may comprise a first and a second connection aperture 38,38' configured to allow the insertion and connection of first and a second faceplate and rod assembly 16,18 respectively. Also claimed is a lock assembly comprising a facia with first and second connection apertures 38,38' configured to connect first and second faceplate and rod assemblies 16,18 e.g. of different lengths.
