A grating fastener 10 is provided for connecting to open grate flooring 12. The grating fastener 10 comprises a support member 14 having a grate-contact portion 16 and a support engagement portion 20 for connecting a structural member 38 to be mounted on the open grate flooring 12 thereon. An anchor element 22 is connected to the support member 14 and extends from the grate contact portion 16. A threadless retaining means is then provided to supply a retaining force between the support member 14 and the anchor element 22, the retaining means holding the grating fastener 10 in place on the open grate flooring 12 when the support member 14 and anchor element 22 are positioned on opposite sides of the said open grate flooring 12.
