A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
A packaged aggregate material comprising an aggregate substantially coated with a water-curable prepolymer mixture packaged within the substantially sealable and moisture-resistant package. The prepolymer mixture is a mixture of a polymerizable resin and a catalyst for the resin. The prepolymer mixture preferably comprises at least 50 wt % of polymerizable resin and from 1 wt% to 5 wt% of catalyst. The mixture may also include at least one additive, such as a moisture-control compound. Preferably the polymerizable resin is a polyisocyanate, most preferably one of methylene diisocyanate, hexamethylene diisocyanate or methylene diphenyl diisocyanate. Preferably the catalyst is 2,2’-dimorpholinyldiethyl ether or dibutyltin dilaurate. The moisture-control composition is preferably p-toluenesulfonyl isocyanate. The aggregate may be selected from stone, sand, grit, wood, recycled materials, granulated plastics, rubber or glass. In a preferred embodiment, the package is a polymeric bag. The aggregate is preferably used for ground-covering purposes.
