A connecting member 203 for a peripheral boundary enclosing a floor of a manhole cover tray 200 comprises: one or more couplings configured to couple a side 206a of a first upstanding wall 202a of the peripheral boundary with a side 206b of a second upstanding wall 202b of the peripheral boundary. The sides 206a, 206b of the upstanding walls 202a, 202b extend from the floor 201 of the manhole cover tray 200 to an upper rim 204 of the peripheral boundary of the manhole cover tray 200. The connecting member 203 comprises a polymer. The one or more couplings 205a, 205b comprise one or more projections and/or recesses configured to couple with the first and second walls 202a, 202b by interlocking with corresponding projections and/or recesses 207a, 207b of the two walls 202a, 202b. The projections and/or recesses of the one or more couplings 205a, 205b comprise resiliently deformable portions to provide for a press-fit attachment with the first and second walls 202a, 202b.
