A gable roof system of the type with two sloped parts whose upper portions meet to form its ridge so as to leave the space for a corresponding gable wall at both ends. One of the two sloped parts comprises at least two roof panels 4,5 placed one above the other, each of said at least two panels extending from one gable to the other gable and being provided with at least two parallel joists 6 running perpendicularly from one gable to the other gable. Wherein one of said two panels is a first panel 4 provided with a diaphragm 10 spanning and being coupled with at least two joists of the corresponding panel while the other of said two panels is a second panel 5 not provided with a diaphragm.
