The method of forming a modular building comprises providing a first modular building including at least a first room module 100 and a first internal unit, the first internal unit being disposed in the first modular building. Reconfiguring of the first modular building into a second modular building is done by attaching a second room module 200 to the first room module, the first room module and the second room module being the same; creating a passageway between the first room module and the second room module; and installing a second internal unit in the second room module. The room modules may comprise a least one removeable panel 103a in which the removal of said panel forms the passageway. Also disclosed is a modular building system formed by the method above and a room module for a modular building comprising at least one internal unit within the interior of the module and comprising a rolling mechanism for rolling the at least one internal unit.
