An insulating method for use in a roof space using insulation comprising a plurality of panels made of insulating material, such as expanded polystyrene. wherein the edges of the panel comprise at least one protrusion and/or cavity, where the cavities are configured to receive the protrusions. Wherein the user forms an insulating layer by interlocking the cavities and protrusions on adjacent panels. Wherein the protrusions may have a dovetail shape with rounded edges and corners and wherein the cavities are recessed to help increase the durability of the panel and prevent the formation of cold bridges through the insulating layer.
