PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide rolling elements which are used for a rolling support device and each constructed of sufficiently strong material more inexpensive than alumina.SOLUTION: The rolling support device includes, at least, a first member and a second member having raceway surfaces arranged opposing each other, and a plurality of rolling elements arranged between the raceway surfaces of both members in a rollable manner, one of the first member and the second member being adapted to be moved relative to the other with the rolling of the rolling elements. The rolling elements are each constructed of such fiber reinforced alumina-zirconia composite ceramic that alumina fibers are added into zirconia, and the content of the alumina fibers in the fiber reinforced alumina-zirconia composite ceramic is 50-80 mass%.
【課題】転がり支持装置に用い、アルミナより安価且つ十分な強度の材料で作製される転動体を提供すること。【解決手段】本発明は、互いに対向配置された軌道面を備えた第1部材及び第2部材と、両部材の軌道面間に転動自在に配置された複数個の転動体と、を少なくとも備え、転動体が転動することにより第1部材及び第2部材の一方が他方に対して相対移動する転がり支持装置において、転動体はアルミナ繊維をジルコニア中に添加した繊維強化型アルミナ−ジルコニア複合セラミックにより作製され、前記アルミナ繊維は繊維強化型アルミナ−ジルコニア複合セラミックにおける含有量が50〜80質量%であることを特徴とする転がり支持装置を提供している。【選択図】図1
