PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive system for a self-propelled construction machine, especially, a soil compactor.SOLUTION: A drive system includes: a drive assembly; at least one hydraulic circuit having hydraulic pumps which can be driven by the drive assembly; and a hydraulic drive support unit having a hydraulic pump/motor assembly and at least one pressure fluid storage unit. The hydraulic pump/motor assembly is coupled to or can be coupled to the drive assembly and/or the at least one hydraulic circuit in a drive fashion, and the hydraulic pump/motor assembly can operate as a pump which charges the at least one pressure fluid storage unit in a charging operation state by the drive assembly and/or the ata least one hydraulic circuit.
