PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ancillary structure connected to a building unit that allows a skylight and other openings to be made freely, without degrading the structural resistance of a ceiling surface.SOLUTION: A small ancillary structure 10 for enlarging an internal space, which is connected to an elevation of a rectangular parallelepiped building unit 1 that constitutes a unit building, is configured as a rectangular parallelepiped having four columns 11, four lower beams 12, 13 that horizontally connect the lower end of the columns, and four upper beams 14, 15 that horizontally connect the upper end of the columns. Of two elevations that face each other, either the upper beams or the lower beams are rigidly connected to two columns and the others are connected to the two columns with a fixture. With the other two elevations that face each other, two columns and the upper and lower beams located in between the two columns are connected using bolts, nuts and other fixtures, with a joint member in between. A ceiling surface configured with the four upper beams has a rectangular frame 40 configured with four members that are parallel to the four upper beams.
