FRICTION-VIBRATION DAMPING DEVICE
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction-vibration damping device suited for wooden houses with a ventilated or sealed underfloor space, the device being of simple structure, low-cost and high in workability, and functioning effectively at times of medium-scale or large-scale earthquakes.SOLUTION: A friction-vibration damping device comprises a first slipping flat plate of a disc-shape in contact with a groundsill, a second slipping flat plate of a disc-shape in contact with a foundation, and a third slipping flat plate of a disc-shape inserted between the frist slipping flat plate and the second slipping flat plate. The thicknesses of the first slipping flat plate and the second slipping flat plate are about the same, while that of the third slipping flat plate is larger. An insertion hole is pierced through the plates at the center for loosely inserting an anchor bolt. The diameter of the first slipping flat plate is about the same with the width of the groundsill, and is larger than that of the second slipping flat plate and the third slipping flat plate. The diameters of the insertion hole of the first slipping flat plate, the third slipping flat plate and the second slipping flat plate become smaller, in that order. The overlapped surfaces between the plates are smooth and in contact with each other uniformly.
