PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inorganic fiber excellent in scale resistance, having sufficient fiber strength and capable of being suitably used as an industrial heating furnace generating a scale such as iron oxide or a heat insulation material for the heating furnace or the like.SOLUTION: There is provided an inorganic fiber containing CaO:3 to 20 wt.%, AlO:70 to 94.5 wt.% and MgO:1 to 10 wt.% and having total percentage content of CaO, AlOand MgO of 95 wt.% or more based on whole fiber and solubility per specific surface area of MgO in the fiber calculated by a specific solubility measurement test of 0.15 ppm/m/g or less.SELECTED DRAWING: None
【課題】耐スケール性に優れ、かつ十分な繊維強度を有し、酸化鉄等のスケールが発生する工業用の加熱炉や、特殊環境の加熱炉等の断熱材として好適に用いることができる無機繊維を提供する。【解決手段】CaO3〜20重量%、Al2O370〜94.5重量%、及びMgO1〜10重量%を含み、かつ、CaO、Al2O3及びMgOの合計の含有割合が繊維全体の95重量%以上である無機繊維であって、特定の溶解度測定試験で求められる繊維中のMgOの比表面積当たりの溶解度が0.15ppm/m2/g以下である無機繊維。【選択図】なし
