PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parking apparatus and a control method for the parking apparatus, that enable safer operation by more effectively preventing an entry/delivery door from being closed in a state in which a person is left inside the parking apparatus.SOLUTION: According to an embodiment, a control method for a parking apparatus includes the steps of: an operation panel provided outside the parking apparatus, receiving authentication information input by a user; calling vehicle body transportation means; opening an entry/delivery door of the parking apparatus; waiting for operation panel input information being input when a door closing instruction is input by the user to the operation panel provided outside the parking apparatus; determining whether or not the authentication information and the operation panel input information satisfy predetermined relation, after the operation panel input information is input; and closing the entry/delivery door on the basis of a result of the determination.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
