PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved production method of a cordierite membrane monolith having a cordierite membrane on a cordierite monolith substrate.SOLUTION: Cordierite particles having an average particle diameter of 1-3 μm are adjusted by a pulverization method with two stage milling including frictional pulverization and jet mill pulverization. The slurry of the adjusted cordierite particles is coated on the surface of a porous channel wall in a plurality of inner channels of a cordierite honeycomb monolith substrate. The plurality of inner channels are extended via the cordierite honeycomb monolith substrate from the first end part to the second end part of the cordierite honeycomb monolith substrate.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
