PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicon nitride-based ceramic member that is light-weight and has a high hardness, is excellent in resistance to processing such as polishing, and further is excellent in appearance quality.SOLUTION: The silicon nitride-based ceramic member contains silicon nitride-based ceramics as a main constituent as well as further contains ZrN. The silicon nitride-based ceramic member has at least 1 mirror polished surface. The mirror polished surface has an arithmetic average roughness Ra of 0.01 μm or less. At least the mirror polished surface exhibits a silver tone having a lightness index Lin the CIE 1976 Labcolor space of 37 or more and 46 or less, a chromaticness index aof -4 or more and -1 or less, and a chromaticness index bof 8 or more and 10 or less.SELECTED DRAWING: None
