PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smart key that, in linkage with a single operation, changes to a form capable of enabling a plurality of operations to clearly recall an operation at the time of emergency, and a smart key system.SOLUTION: A smart key 100 comprises: a frame 110; a key 170 capable of shifting to a storage position and an exposure position; a transformation part 150 that transforms so as to, together with the frame 110, form an engagement-disabled shape and an engageable shape; a linkage mechanism 160 that, in linkage with action for moving the key 170 from the storage position to the exposure position, transforms the transformation part 150 from the engagement-disabled shape to the engageable shape and, in linkage with action for moving the key 170 from the exposure position to the storage position, transforms the transformation part 150 from the engageable shape to the engagement-disabled shape; and a first authentication part 180 that is configured to be capable of communicating with an apparatus 210 in a range including an engagement start position between an operation part 213 and the transformation part 150 and performs at least part of authentication.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4A
