PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ground improvement auger for forming a stable columnar body with large friction between the columnar body and peripheral soil.SOLUTION: A ground improvement auger includes an auger shaft extending in a prescribed direction, a roughly conical head rotating integrally with the auger shaft and having a diameter that tapers in a direction away from a relay part, and a blade protruded from an outer periphery of the head. The blade has a pressing surface that consolidates a material on peripheral soil, when the auger shaft rotates. The auger shaft and the head define an inner space extending in the prescribed direction and guiding the material including excavated soil in the prescribed direction. The head has an opening on a side surface that communicates the inner space with outside.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
