PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum nitride sintered compact whose volume resistivity in an ordinary temperature range can be reduced using neodymium oxide, and a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: Provided is an aluminum nitride sintered compact containing AlN as the main phase, and in which a boundary phase includes NdAlOand/or NdAlO, and also provided is a method for producing an aluminum nitride sintered compact comprising: a step where aluminum nitride and neodymium oxide obtained by a direct nitriding method are prepared; a step where the aluminum nitride and the neodymium oxide are mixed; and a step where the mixture of the aluminum nitride and the neodymium oxide is fired.SELECTED DRAWING: None
