PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently wash a hollow fiber membrane in a filter.SOLUTION: The filter 1 comprises a hollow fiber membrane module 3 disposed in a cylindrical container 14 and two or more kinds of granular materials 16 having different specific gravities and stored in the cylindrical container 14. At least light particles 17 having a smaller specific gravity in the granular materials 16 have a diameter of 1.1 times or more and 2 times or less the distance of a point where the distance between a projection of a part of the inner wall of the cylindrical container 14 and the hollow fiber membrane module 3 is maximum.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
