PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To install a caisson by charging filling material to inner space of the caisson without leakage of water in the inner space of the caisson to outer section of the caisson, which contains substance derived from the filling material.SOLUTION: There is provided an installation method for a caisson, where a caisson 10 having an upper opening, which floats on water surface 82, is installed on water bottom 84. The method comprises: a landing step where water 14 is charged to an inner space 12 of the caisson 10 so as to land the caisson 10 on the water bottom 84 so that the caisson 10 is sunk until reaching the water bottom 84; and a filling material charge step where filling material 16 is charged to the inner space 12 of the caisson 10 landed on the water bottom 84 in the landing step. The height position of upper end of the caisson 10 landed on the water bottom 84 in the landing step is sufficiently higher than the height position of water surface 82 and water 14 charged to the inner space 12 of the caisson 10 in the landing step never leaks to outer section of the caisson 10 when charging the filling material 16 to the inner space 12 of the caisson 10 in the filling material charge step.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
